Hi to everybody!
I am a participant from Estonia. I am fortunate enough come to south Korea for my second time.
Last summer I visted Korea for my first time and I fell in love with the place so much that I wanted to return again this year.
I was thrilled when I found out that I could join the Yeosu Youth Festival 2010. So far it has been an absolutely unforgettable experience!

Myself and two other Estonians arrived to Seoul today after having taken a twenty five hour ferry crossing from China. Our Hotel in Seoul, Dreamtel wasn't that hard to find, as I stayed there last year as well. Though, first I was a little confused and ended up getting lost a bit.
Seoul is a real metropolis and despite it's awe inspiring diveristy and contrasts within it the city seemed quite uniform at times.
Many people had come to stay at the Dreamtel hotel to join the festival! I also met some people I had already met before, so I was really excited to meet them all again. First; we were divided into our rooms and then we went to have dinner. Though I found Korean food to be quite strange and exotic from what I am used to eating in Estonia. Still, while there are some things that I really like, there're some things that I really hate. For example I love the little eggs that they serve and also gimbap, especially with tunafish. I haven't figured out yet whether I like kimchi or not. At times I can eat some of it, though only a bit. I am neither a big fan of seaweed, but since there is a lot of it in korean cuisine i guess that I just have used to it.
At that day we also had a little meeting in the conference hall, where we received some announcements though at that stage in the day it was already quite late. That night we hung out for a bit on the balcony and then went to bed early, as the next day we had an early wake-up call.

So, we packed up our things and took them to buses. Seoul tour was interesting! I enjoyed it immensely, as it showed us a load of places that we'd earlier missed out on, when I was first in Seoul. As I had thought I would, I became quite nostalgic as I toured the city. As familiar with Korea as I was, I still had the chance to try out new things. Like trying on traditional Hanbok costumes for the first time along with my group, for example. As I am quite tall (especially so for Asians) there wasn't a correct size for me, so it took them long time to find me one that fitted me. Thankfully though in the end I managed to get one on for taking for pictures!
The trip down from Seoul to Yeosu was long, but since we made many breaks, it didnt feel so bad. In Yeosu we first met our Korean buddies. My buddys name is Hee-jin, she lives close to Seoul. We had a nice chat yesterday with her and I got to know a lot about their school system. It seems unbelievable for me how much the Koreans study. They must have a lot of will-power!

Breakfast was in European style, which was great! Most of the time we eat Korean food, so it was nice to get something that I am more accostumed to. Though I also dont want to complain about Korean food. As we have come to this country we should get familiar with its culture and food is certainly a really important part of it.
Later we had some recreation activities. Some of the activites were fun, but again some of them I didnt fancy that much. If for a regular Estonian it is a bit unusual to sing
i you love, then for a Korean it can be totally normal and I understand this. It is interesting how there are that many cultural differences between the Europeans and Asians, which sometimes can creat situations which seem confusing for one or the other side. In the same time I think we should be really thankful for the variety of traditions, ways of living that there are. It makes the world more bundant.
Ok, here I want to end my blog entry for this time.
Will be writing soon again,
send all my best wishes to all of you,
Maaja
